| This is a mermaid, made by Rose, my 8yr old, we used salt dough as we had to for a brownie competition, we decided that it would have been better & easier for children to use polymer clay (my preferred medium for colour & "kneadability"!?) A picture hook can easily be attached to the back once baked, or your mermaid can be glued to a wooden door plaque, with an existing hook.

A Happy thought This is a lovely gift for grandparent,as well as something to do, or for Mothers/Fathers day, you will need:Something to protect your table, plastic tablecloth or sheet is goodblock of polymer claySmall rolling pin, acrylic is best, but you can use a wooden one if you place a piece of cling film over the claycocktail stickRibbon or pretty craft stringTile or oven proof plateyou somply roll out some clay onto your tile, I use about a quarter of a block, make a hole in the top with the cocktail stick, it need to be big enough to get string through, crimp the edges with your thumb(or fancy clay tools if you have any). Roll out a long sausage of clay & used it to form the letters of your choice, we chose "mum" then bake for about 15 mins at the temperature stated on the packet of clay. When cooled down, your Happy thought can be further embellished with, permanent markers/glitter/anything you want to glue on!
